5 Botox Myths β Debunked by Our Medical Team

Botox has been used safely for decades, yet misconceptions persist. Our medical director sets the record straight on the most common fears and myths about anti-wrinkle injections.
Myth 1: Botox will make you look frozen
This is the most persistent myth β and it stems from poorly administered treatments. When Botox is placed correctly by a trained medical professional, results are subtle and natural. The goal is to soften movement, not eliminate it. Overcorrection is an injection technique error, not an inherent property of the treatment.
Myth 2: Botox is dangerous
Botulinum toxin has been used in medicine since the 1970s β originally to treat eye muscle disorders β and has one of the longest safety records of any aesthetic treatment. At cosmetic doses it remains entirely localised. Serious complications are vanishingly rare when treatment is administered by a qualified medical practitioner.
Myth 3: Once you start, you can't stop
Botox simply wears off β typically in 3 to 4 months. If you choose to stop, your muscles gradually return to their normal activity. There is no physical dependency. Some clients find that over time, with repeated treatment, they need less product, as the targeted muscles weaken slightly through reduced use.
Myth 4: Botox is only for women
Men account for a growing share of aesthetic treatments globally. 'Brotox' is no longer a niche term. Men seek Botox primarily for forehead lines, frown lines, and jawline slimming. The technique is adapted to preserve the masculine brow position and retain a natural appearance.
Myth 5: Cheaper is better
The price of Botox treatment reflects practitioner skill, product quality, and clinical environment β not brand margin. Unlicensed or undertrained injectors using diluted or counterfeit product are a genuine safety risk. Always verify your practitioner's medical credentials and confirm the product is a licensed pharmaceutical brand.
